I need a short-er hard case to fly with using autos or O/U shotguns. Im considering a 40” Pelican to double up as a case for my AR15/10s when not needing it for the shotguns. However, I don’t see any reviews or recommendations where people are using these type cases for shotguns. I assume they work fine when the shotguns are broken down but am I missing something? I’m trying to avoid taking my 50”+ rifle cases. I know there are less expensive options but like the idea of a Pelican or SKB.

It will work fine. You'll probably want a separate foam insert for the shotgun so it can be fit to it.

I like the Boyt cases even better than Pelican. Latches are much better.
