I have a Ruger 77/22 Long Rifle V-block barrel and want to convert it to a 22 magnum.
Does anyone know of a step-by-step procedure with parts list?

I have one of each and just compared them side by side. Apart from the barrel, the only immediate visual difference is what I guess you'd call a trigger guard assembly. I know that doesn't answer your question, but it'll keep the thread moving until someone who knows what they are talking about pops in.

Bore diameter might be different, enough that it matters I don’t know.

Yep...I've read the .22 LR bore is .222 and the Magnum is .224. Some say they have just rechambered and the tighter bore helps accuracy in the magnum, others say you can't do that as it causes higher pressures. Not sure what direction I will go yet.

I don't have a LR version to compare action lengths, but I believe the magnum action may be longer. The magnum magazine is definitely longer than the LR, which would require alterations to make it fit.

You need the magnum trigger guard assembly and magnum magazine. Extractor claws may need minor stoning to allow the cartridge rim to pop up fully. My 77/22 has been a .17m2, .17HMR and is currently a .22lr. I have no experience on rechambering an existing .22lr barrel to .22mag though.

Regards AZmark:
The ejector for the 77/22 is a spur at the front of the trigger guard. Due to the difference in magazine length, the .22lr bolt stroke is shorter than for the magnum. The bottom of the bolt is grooved for the spur. On the mag. bolt it extends the length of of the forward non-rotating portion, on the LR bolt it's stopped.

When changing to the shorter mag. bottom metal you'll need to either "Dremel" the groove on the LR bolt or carefully reduce the back of the ejection spur (check it often) or the LR bolt won't close. Neither approach is that difficult.

Lilja or Stilen will have your .22WRM barrel- .17HMR & HM2 barrels also available. Suggest you keep your .22lr barrel, then you have the potential for any of the four common rimfire cartridges with a ten minute (+ -) swap.
