I'm a bolt action guy. Been reloading for 30 years. 60 years old. Never have owned a semi-auto rifle. Started driving Whitetails again after 40 years of stand hunting. So decided to purchase the Browning Bar MK 3 in .308 Win. Went to shoot it today for first time. Shot factory ammunition Hornady Superformance 165 SST. Shot a 2.05" 3 shot group at 200 yards. Average muzzle velocity out of the 22" barrel was 2810 fps. Very impressed and happy.
I did get lucky on the wood and accuracy. I went out to gunbroker looking for this specific rifle and came across this one. It so happened the gun shop that was selling it was only 15 miles from me. So didn't have to go through the FFL bullsh1t nor did I have to pay for shipping or the background check. I guess the sun shines on a dog's a55 sometimes.
Mine in 270 is crazy accurate. But the first time I shot it I broke the forearm . I rested it on a wood fence and it split like cordwood. So I zombied it with a Boyd laminate.

These are really well made and designed guns. They also don't require a bolt slam to ensure it is properly cocked . As long as the cocking handle on the bolt lines up with the red dot on the receiver you are GTG. 30-06 prefers 165 grain loads as well.

I was wondering about that. It's cool sound when they slam shut. But nice to be quiet when hunting. Thanks for the info.

You are welcome, I like quiet when loading guns in the woods and compared to a bolt gun( other then a magazine gun) it is very very quiet.
I’d buy up several boxes of that ammo if possible. Good luck with you hunting.
I did go back to Scheels and picked up 4 more boxes (still the same batch). The next batch could be slightly more accurate or the same. But it can easily go the other way also. 4 boxes should last me a long time. I have a lot of other rifles to play with. This one will be one to two shots each fall before hunting. Then what ever I shoot at whitetails.
