Got the kid a Tikka Compact .243. Couldn’t find any Sportsmatch rings in stock, but a rail I had here and low Mtn Techs isn’t too bad. I think with a light weight 7”ish suppressor that this will serve him well until a Montana fits him. I’m hoping Varget and 70s will shoot well, and have low enough recoil for him to shoot a lot until it’s suppressed.

I bought myself the same rifle in 308. It's wearing a proven 4x Leupold in low Weaver rings on a Mountain Tactical rail.
What scope is that?

If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

My daughter has the same in 308 It loves the 125s and reduced loads. It also really likes the 125s going really fast.

Hard to go wrong with that choice.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Wonderful choice. I have a few of assorted models and they are still growing on me. I’m sure he will enjoy it for years to come. Take care! Rick
