What is the deal with these actions/barelled actions? How do they rate or would I be better off just getting a CZ 550? General opinions please..............

What are they offering now? How much?
I got in on the start up actions. That did not work out very well.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

I have a buddy who has a .325 WSM built on one of these actions by Hill Country Rifles and it is a nice piece overall.

No problems with mine, bought a barreled action from them almost 2 years ago. Mine was a #3 contour. A bit on the heavy side so I had more work done on it this year to lighten it up. Otherwise it was a pretty good deal at the time.

I got a barreled action from them. Along with it being delivered late, they tried to increase the price after we had agreed on it.
The action was still pretty rough, and like tbear99, I needed to have the action worked on to make it barely acceptable.
I would not get another one.

If your a lefty, due to limited choices, they will work just fine. Just be prepared to spend more money to get it up to par, though some people have gotten lucky. If your a righty there are better and cheaper options.

I have three of the LH SS barreled actions in .35 Whelen, 338-06 and 6.5x55. Mine all shoot great and they were finished exactly like MRC said they would be.

I picked up 2 SS, SA during their charter special. One is a 25-284 and the other is a 350 Rem. Mag. Both are shooting well and no problems with either. Some folks have had issues. I happen to be 2 for 2... They are not lightweight and not as finely finished, but for a good huntin' stick, Good to go.

I also got in on the charter offering and bought a SA stainless that I had made into a 243AI. Maybe I'm not smart enough to know that it was rough, or bad, but I loved it. I dropped it into a Mcm stock and had a blast. That rifle was stolen and I'm still pissed about it.
I have a stainless short action mag bolt face that I'm thinking about selling. It's a charter offering as well. I can't figure out what to build on it as I have most chamberings covered that the SA mag action would work for. If anyone wants one, let me know......
