If a 30-30 is blown out and cut down to make the 360 Buckhammer then one would think a 30 Remington could be done likewise to operate in an AR-10 action, or a bolt action. Or has that already been done?

This entire "straight wall" BS is the biggest cart of horse [bleep] in a while. Politics destroys everything.

True, but if the choice is straight wall, shotgun, or smokepole, their is one clear winner

Ken,
Some people will never understand. I have lived in states where all CF rifles were legal and I still hunted with a straight wall 357 Max rifle. My first bear was killed with a Max in Virginia. It's a no nonsense get it done with minimal recoil kinda cartridge. My son and I have killed 2 bears and 6-8 deer with 357 Max rifles. I doubt he'll ever need more rifle as long as he continues to hunt here in the Midwest or sets all his hunting stands for archery ranges as I do.

Just more noses under the tent , more laws, regulations reinventing things that already exist. Friggin Lawyers full employment acts.

What the hell is the difference between a 200gr pill doing 2150fps out of a straight wall and a 200gr pill doing 2150 fps out a bottleneck ?

Stupid un-needed legislation.

If it were left to legislators we would all be hunting with flintlocks. We're grateful for the compromise and don't ask dumb questions that will open the doors to less allowable cartridges.

The issue is ease of enforcement. Case design and dimension restrictions are the only real way to enforce the use of quasi low velocity rounds without letting high velocity flat shooters slip through the cracks.

Te argument of the merits of the straight wall cartridge are truly mute. That is the law and bitching about it is pointless. And frankly it is warranted in many area of Ohio. To chop Ohio up into zones for different requirements would be a nightmare.

They've done just that in Virginia. It's not just a nightmare, it's a flustercluck.

Warranted? Do explain the difference of a 200gr. Pill @ 2150 fps out of a SW, and a 200 gr pill @ 2150 out of a BNC ? Its Nanny Government .

There is no difference! Are you happy now? We're aware ill-informed and undereducated politicians made these rules. So what?

IN some States if you use a .357 and above you can use bottle neck cases. This would be a great time to re-introduce the 35 Remington back to the world. I have a friend that uses a 35 Whelen. It's legal now in Iowa.

It would have to be a larger caliber to make a straight wall. I have a 35-30 which is a 30-30 necked up to .358 and it has a slight bottle neck. The other option is to taper it down like the Buck Hammer, or just get a 38-55. The .35 Rem (.30 Rem) case has a more pronounced bottle neck than the 35-30. If you blew it out to a straight walled case, I don't know what caliber it would take. I think it would remain a wildcat offering, because that brass is harder to find and there are already other options. It might make a good project.

That’s a good take on the situation. Enjoy the opportunity, rather than complain about how they shoulda done it. We can still use any CF rifle here, but that certainly might change at some point due to the changing land use. If it does, I’ll adjust…..

The regular .360 looks interesting and Hodgdon has data in the current manual, along with an article. The data section shows somewhat hotter loads than in the article, so the author might have been working with early data. It handily outruns the old .35 R and is straight-wall legal, so there’s nothing not to like except the current shortage of available rifle choices. They also have data for subsonic loads with a 250gr bullet.

What fresh Hell is this?
