The cat was a decent sized Tom and was crouched facing me when I center punched his chest with a 160 gr Winchester Power Max bonded factory load from about 60 ft away. Surprisingly, there was no exit.
I did kill another cat with a shot through the spine while facing away that left a softball sized hole on exit.
I think it's going to be 180 gr loads for game animals in the future.

Prolly would have exited if you had picked a cat with fewer than nine-lives left.
Figure 10" front-to-back TIMES 9 lives...you were asking the bullet to penetrate 90"

Exactly when is Oklahoma's house cat season?

Rich people. Using expensive ammo on house cats.😄
I carry a Single Six when hunting, for that purpose. If needed, it works as a finisher, too. I’ve been tempted to use it as a primary when the deer were under twenty yards…

I wholeheartedly approve of your choice of ballistic test media. Cheaper and more readily available than those gel blocks. Keep up the good work 👍.

I have resorted to gut shooting them w a .22, so they run off and die. Then I don't have to worry about messing w them.

Bullet on cat one prolly came out the poop chute. I don't think so. I am considering exploratory surgery in the interest of science.
