$80 for a pound of diced beef seems a bit much, even if it is astronaut food. What does a decent freeze drier cost now days?

When it says the price, and says #10 can. Does that mean the price is for ten cans??

#10 can is a specific size often used for food storage...

Cmon man yo ass needed to be having a job in food service. What a pampered life to not know what a #10 can is

Ya know it’s about a fuggin gallon size mofo.

We call em nursing home quantities, institutional serving size.

You never hoarded #10 cans for keeping nails and screws, bolts in? Never lined up an ass load of #10 cans from the school lunch dumpster and hauled them out to backwoods range and topped em off with water and shot em with a .243 at 300 yards

Poor thing

Like I said yo ass missed out apparently on mopping floors and opening cans of pudding for the steakhouse kitchen. What about church service, they had those cans for VBS summer meals, all sorts of commodities in them. Again, sheltered life???

Something like this

terms like #10 can
Or #3 washtub get used often in the south. Gawd

If accurate, it is 20 servings. So, that's about $4/serving. I'm not sure how it compares to whatever else, but, if it really last 25 years, that wouldn't be too bad. It's only 17 ounces because all of the water is removed, which you add back in before eating.

I Freeze Dry my own stuff now since just before Thanksgiving.

No need to pay for that high price stuff anymore and I can do what I like instead of what they offer.

Thanks for the link tho it is nice to see what they charge for food now days.

My survival plan is to shoot those who have food stored away. I figure it's easier for me to hoard ammo than food.

Biggest pro to DIY besides quality control, at least to me, would be to be able to regulate salt content.

More than likely, the can I bought today will last longer than me.

By who?

Not anyone who has stored food. They will be far too busy attempting to defend it.
