Wolfdog91,

It’s good to see that you’re back with us. I haven’t had the time to watch the entire video yet……but you got my interest!

There’s no reason that powder coated cast bullets of a decent hardness shouldn’t work just fine…..providing they feed good! Keep up the good work! memtb

Yeah, get that feed/function tweaked out and it looks promising.

Cool experiment.

They work great in ARs. Slightly more than usual cleaning could be involved if conventional lubed bullets are used. No experience with the powder coated types.

Multiple barrels, multiple chamberings from 223-458SOCOM that have performed well with greaser bullets out of direct impingement platforms for decades.

This is my powder coated 358 MGP (necked up 6.8 SPC) with the RCBS 200 grain flat nose plain base and for a comparison a 300 BO with a 230 grain Cruse Missile plain base. The bullets are very hard cast and double powder coated using auto chrome powder coating powder by Eastwood. Sized to actual groove diameter using case lube on a pad. Takes an adjustable gas block to modify scraping at the velocity and pressure.

The 30x39 is not pictured, but can use the 150-165 RCBS or the 230 in a 16 inch 1-10 twist 308 barrel. Sota makes the 30 cal 7.62x39 barrels.

In the 16" AR-15 with 1680 the 358 MGP will do 2,500 fps at 4/10 inch at 100. The BO subs are at 1,000 at .5" at 50 with H-110. No fouling or leading.

WD91, I went down that road too, also with pretty good success.

Picked up a side charging upper in 300BO. In an effort to make it as quiet as possible, disabled the gas block. Making basically a bolt action AR.

Shot it sub-sonic and suppressed of course. All told, made it all real quiet. And shot reasonably well.

Shot it using this bullet, mold from Accurate Molds, 210gr bore-rider.. Lubed with 50/50 Beeswax and vasoline...

Also shot it as designed, semi-auto, shot just fine, no feed problems....

Ended up sending it down the road, have a BO in a Contender....

Thanks for the video. It was interesting to see the bore after powder coated bullets. I just got back into casting again the last few years because I was interested in powder coating. I used to not like dealing with traditional lubes and having some go bad or get messy after storing them for years.

I cast some lee .358 200g flat nose and powder coated them and put gas checks on for my 358. Then I started thinking about sizing them down a bit more and using them in my 350 legend AR. My ar is just a cheap radical firearms 16" upper on a poverty pony lower. But it shoots well and has been kind of fun once I figured out a few quirks to loading for it.

I'm thinking about selling the radical and putting together a nicer 350 ar on an aero m4e1 to match some of my others now that I no I like the cartridge. It will be fun if it does well with cast bullets. I'm guessing the 350 should push 200g cast around 2000 fps which should be a good speed for flat nosed cast pcgc.

If anyone wants a cheaper 350 ar upper that shoots pretty well let me know. I'm about to order another barrel to build a nicer one.

I have a 7.62x39 PSA ar that used to shoot well with the steel cased stuff but I haven't used it the last 4 or 5 years. I had some issues with magazines I think and never did get around to sorting it out so I need to dig it out of the safe this spring. Once I got an AK I started neglecting that ar.
