Looking for something in this price range (about $400) in 8x42 and these two seem like good options. Is one of these a better performer than the other? Is there a better option? For rifle scopes, I prefer Leupold over Burris, but not sure when it comes to binoculars.

Neither Burris or Reupold has EVER made a bino worth a fhuqk. Hint.

Buying Used Goods Of REPUTE,will ALWAYS stomp a "good deal" on a Piece Of Fhuqking Schit. Hint.

Just saying.............

Are you basing this off of things you have seen? Care to share? I have friends with Leupolds who have used them for years and like them. And they are the cheaper ones than these ? Bear in mind, I am not trying to compare these to Swaros or Steiner or the like. Those are out of my price range.

I don’t disagree… so what would you recommend?

I saw a few good deals in classified lately for a couple hundred more than your budget. My .02 is save a little longer and wait for a good deal that will pop up.

I don’t disagree with that either. What brands are you suggesting?

I have Leica 8x42 and the 62mm spotter and never regretted the money spent. These were brought a long time ago so I’m not up on newer offerings, Stick and others might have some recommendations.

I have to agree with Lil'Dick on this one, I own more than my share of Leupold rifle scopes but their binos have never been good
You will probably have to spend a bit more than your budget but I would suggest the Tract Toric or look at Dougs website and check out his Kowa bino's, a great value for the money

I have used a Leica scope before and really liked it. It was a buddy’s rifle and I was sighting it in for him and to me it seemed high quality.

For your price range, I would suggest minox. They are owned by Leica and use comparable glass. I have a 25 yo pair and they are backup to my swaros els. Their customer service is excellent as well.

Minox was bought by Blaser many years ago.
