At least it’s spelled correctly.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Shoot…now I can’t tell if anybody is being serious or not
Anyone care to elaborate?
The rest of the gun appears to be in very good condition but I’ll post some pics in a bit

I’ve seen some examples of what I would consider to be poorly done counterfeits, discussed on the WACA site. People far more experienced than me, accepted them as factory work. It’s just a bit difficult for me to believe that on a gun that is supposed to receive the additional TLC a Super Grade was purported to get, they wouldn’t do a better job of matching the fonts. If those mismatched letters appeared anywhere on the barrel, nobody would consider them legitimate. Just my opinion but I wouldn’t buy a gun stamped like that.

I’m hoping pocono can help cert on this. I told him the supergrades are supposed to be the cream of the crop. I usually stay away from them though, because so many were faked.

Makes sense to me..thank you for the input Seems despite the lack of attention to detail it could very well be legit tho? The gentleman who is considering selling the rifle has been “collecting winchesters a long time” so I have my doubts it’s intentionally faked anyway..

Certifiable: The "floorplate" (only) on that Supergrade appears bogus to me. I just went and checked all of my Supergrades and NONE of them are anywheres near as "outa'whack" as that one. I would be VERY, VERY doubtful that came from the Winchester factory (as original). Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

The OP's is a little rougher than the one in the picture. The size of the letters are different as well. I don't know, for sure, but If I was responsible for stamping that, I'd probably throw it in a pile of please don't use these. .. Did Winchester let one out, looking that bad? It's possible... But the lettering still does not look right.

Cannot imagine Win letting that one out.

If you think that's bad, take a look at Model 42 hand-stamped SNs. The guy who bought out the Combs collection has the Alaskan. As a joke he posted a real closeup of the SN. Most of the board thought it was a fake. Knowing the collector's sense of humor I checked Schwing and sure enough there it was.

Boy, the rest of the rifle looks quite nice and I hope Pocono can sort you out cause a 300 H&H Super Grade is one cool rifle.
