Thinking of doing this in 2025 and looking at RAM Aviation or Arrowhead Outfitters. Planning on getting the package where they supply a set up camp with food. Anyone ever do this? Would love to hear about your experiences and any and all advice u can give!

Thanks
Roy.

You know you might get more replies if you post your inquiry on the Alaska forum.

Caribou hunting across North America is declining rapidly with the decline of caribou herds so prices for guides and transporters are/have risen sharply.

You are doing the right thing by researching a year early. Be careful of nonrefundable deposits for a hunt that may be canceled. It is happening!

Some friends and I did one a looong time ago, like about 1980.

We flew commercial to Anchorage then to King Salmon, AK. We took tents and all of our gear from home. We then hired a float plane to fly us out to a small lake somewhere on the tundra. We all got a bull, but I shot the best one that I saw on the first day only to see a monster bull the next day, so only watched him walk away.

Hip boots or irrigating boots were must as the tundra where we were was like walking on a wet sponge.

Our tent had a floor, but it was not waterproof so a large plastic ground tarp would have been nice.

Dad has hunted Qubec frequently and he loved it, getting older, he hasn't in about 7
years. I'm not sure what the herd situation is like now, I think it was dec....

Just Googled.
Can't tell if there is even a season, what little I find is old.
Not looking good.

Dad started going up there in the 80s, before the hydro projects built a lot of the roads.
Everything was fly in. Now you can drive to places he hunted.

I always wanted to see it, the country, the herds. Time and money always got in the
way, now it seems the opportunity is gone.
