For me-I'm really not that picky[suppose my tastes aren't refined like some], one of my favorite whiskies anymore is a simple 6 month barrel aged bottle that still carries hints of the 'corn likker' it started out as.

I pour from the bottle to my glass and sip it straight. Only rarely might I add a little ice.

The 86 is decent for straight sipping, but for the modest cash amount for the increment I'd recommend the 100 proof.

Ditto. Good bang for buck.

any selection from Old Forester should be fine. Certainly a better whiskey than anything from Canada.

If memory serves me, l believe Old Forrester and woodford reserve are in the same distillery family.

I've heard it said many prefer Old forrester to the WReserve.

Price wise, I'm not sure there's much of a gap.

They're both owned by Brown - Forman, but I don't think that says much about their commonality of production. For example, I believe Woodford contains an amount of pot still distilled spirit where Old Forester does not.

I am drinking some right now. The 100 proof is a definite upgrade for a couple dollars more. It is a bargain in my opinion.

On the low cost side, the 100 proof is much better than the 86. Their other offerings a pretty good. Sipping on one of their single barrels at the moment.

1910, 1920, and KR are good as are other OF but I don’t like the 86...better than Canadian though for sure.

Larceny or if you want something really inexpensive that is decent...Ancient Age or Old Grandad.

The Evan Williams BIB fights well above its pay grade as already mentioned.

I’m a big chunk of Ice or neat drinker so factor that in if you make mixes with yours

100 proof is much better than 86, and it is my preferred Old Forrester. IMO, the 100 proof tastes like bourbon should.

The basic 100 proof is OK, really a mixer IMO.

1910 very, very good and is a new favorite of mine, and so is 1920.

1920 let's you sip some of the Angel's Share too....

1910 is one of their bests.

The 1897 BIB is really good too.

Both are readily available nearby.
