I was informed last night that I won a Ruger American Predator in the caliber of my choice. I'm flush with rifles in the 243 to 300 Wea. mag. range and was thinking 22-250. Anyone have one in this chambering and if so, your thoughts. It would be the AICS magazine version.

I have one in 204 ruger, nice rifle but hate the bolt, feeds rough compared to a Rem. and it don't kick a empty shell out into your hand very well, you have to just let it fly out onto the ground. Accuracy is very good.

I picked one up last year in a .223. It’s a tack driving machine for sure. I’d agree on the bolt being less than I expected but it functions fine.

I am on the list for a second gen predator in a .243. I have a soft spot for that caliber and own a bunch but what’s one more? The new gen models look great maybe that’s what you won?
Congratulations by the way.

Osky, wha is the difference between the 1st and 2nd generation RAR ? I have on that is 4 yrs old . It is the. .243 Win, compact with an 18" barrel? I sure like the gun and slams down the deer just fine. Accuracy is not real good , likely 2" @ 100yds. However, my longest shot was 25 yds. this year and 26 the yr. before.

Take a look online, they are very different. Cerakote twist Contoured barrel, brake, trigger upgrade, adjustable padded comb on the stock, adjustable stock length... Still a users gun but some nice touches to spruce it up. I think I counted around 18 caliber choices, about half are out now and the others later this year.
I probably missed a few other perks, I’m not sure.

* note to add a bit of polishing helps the bolt stroke, time will tell if the new one needs it.

The bolt stroke is sloppy like a savage, polish away. I like the old ruger mauser better but they a bitch to re-barrel and clean up. More tooling required.

Well there are all kinds of things we like to have but aren’t really needed for the use. My Predator priced as a knock around hard use rifle banging around in the cab of the tractor ,combine, outfit, or sxs is standing the test, dust, bumps, rain, snow, and whatever else is thrown at it.
Given its use environment and issues mentioned above I really don’t care if the bolt whistles a sloppy version of Dixie while it’s being worked. It has flawlessly worked the round in, fired, ejected and repeated.
Works for me.

Maybe a giant mistake but I took the cash equivalent. I looked at a couple in stock and nothing there really thrilled me.

It was a toss up for me between a 22-250 and a 6 Creedmore which would have to be ordered.

Don’t doubt that at all. Truthfully I can buy one still and have cash left over so I guess a win-win

The ones I looked at just didn’t fit me well

It does seem like the stock is a little short for me, but haven’t measured it. It’s good to carry in Polaris for piggie popping

Don't they come with a longer butt stock? Or a longer one is available?
I got one for my grandson and a son in law in 243 and they both were very accurate with the same load. The 22mag. that I have isn't to shabby either.
If one in 204 is still available that would be how I would go with a 223 second on the list.

I put the Magpul Hunter stock on my Predator 223. You can adjust the length with spacers at the butt end.

Find a guy who has a rifle like one posted just above my post and see if you can get a extra spacer/shim and use that to lengthen your stock. Hold shim in place then draw line along out side edge so you can trim off the edge. Piece of rubber conveyer belting just as good.

I have a 22-250 on the Remington Model 700 platform. Heck of a round and groups better than I can shoot.
