Just imagine the uproar if somebody had put forth a resolution draft complaining about criticism of Christians, or Jews, or heaven forbid Hindus (apparently Muslim attitudes towards Hindus are even worse than towards Jews).
There's ethnic cleaning, if not outright genocide, going on in places like Darfur, but instead lets focus on some editorial page comics in the Netherlands. Geez. With all the money the UN has, they could do something useful like eradicate malaria or smallpox; instead, this crap. The UN was bad news to begin with; why should I care what Russia, or Libya, or Latvia think about any topic?
I do think regular folks here and in Europe are starting to get a clue. But it'll take a decade or two for our "leaders" to catch up with the front of the parade. Of course the far left is always going to be in love with any culture that's opposed to western democracy. The way things are going, Hollywood is going to be campaigning for Hugo Chavez any day now.
