If you say so, over paid ambulance chasers that spend the majority of their time getting ready to go to work. None ever quit or get fired. But that's why there's a waiting line to just get interviewed and little to no chance to get hired in the large market high paying jobs. The fireman should get cops pay and cops get fireman pay. I have a bunch of fireman friends and they really appreciate their jobs.

I have a bunch of fireman friends and they really appreciate their jobs. Not sure about your neck of the woods, but here, the avg. firefighter base salary is $91k. An officer is $81k. Edit to add: The seniority list in my department is mostly people with under 5 years of service. The next group, consisting of about 30%, have 15+ years of service. The missing middle are the people who quit or get fired.

I answered the call for 25 years and the only pay I received was for the three times I was selected to be a delegate at the State conventions. No complaints, tho. I'd do it all again for the chance to help my neighbors. Loved every minute of it.
