Took a decent sized doe with my old 1959 or so JC Higgins 51-L(HVA action) 308 using a NOE clone of the Saeco #315 cast bullet at roughly 11-12 Bhn. The bullet is a tapered shank, truncated cone, 180 gr gas checked bullet I run at about 2150 fps.Punched both lungs and just missed the top of the heart taking out an artery or two. Impact was at roughly 130 yards and at that speed the flat meplat caused plenty of bloodshot on the entrance side. Not so much on the exit. She ran maybe 50-75 yards. This is my 2nd one with cast this year, the first was a 250 gr flat nose at roughly 1450 fps out of a JES rebored 38-55 Marlin 336.That one ran about 10 yards.

This one will average between 1-1 1/4" groups with this load. Also likes the 165 Ranch Dog, but my mold is for plain shank, no gas check so I run it slower. I specked it for when my grandson was just starting out with a youth Marlin 30-30.
Edit to add that I miss typed the fps, 34 gr Norma N202 gives me 2050 with the 180 gr powder coated, gas checked bullets. It does well with H4350 but I'm about out of it and have a pound of the N202 left.

Congrats! I have that mould somewhere. I should dig it out and revisit it. Its tapered design mates well in a chamber which I re-cut the leade with a 1 1/2 degree included angle throating reamer. (Seat the bullet way out for a snug fit in the throat.)
