Deer season is over, got some loading to do. I need to put new metal on my workshop. I have a guy that wants me to build 30 feeders for him, but don’t know if I want to fool with that, even though I could make 600 apiece off the damn things. I’m thinking about selling down the herd of rifles I own. I have too many, don’t want wife to deal with that. I have 5x8 trailer I need to paint. I have two plywood stands I need to paint, but waiting to see if we are going to lose that lease, family is squabbling over it. I need to find another spot on East Texas lease to put a stand up. There is always things to do. What are you guys gonna do after your season ends.

Just waiting on this snow to stop, and the temp drop coming behind it to start ice fishing. I loaded all the gear in the car earlier this morning, and I'll go do some preliminary scouting Sunday.

I took a couple days off work next week to hit it while it's still at its coldest. I love fishing the cold snaps, they keep most of the yahoo crowd around here at home so I have quiet and the fish to myself. 😏

Selling down the rifle herd, hmmmmm. Why not let the ole lady deal with it? I mean she could take em to the pawn shop and trade em for jewelry.

My season ended Nov 30. I need some range time. I've already got my 2024 licenses, cougar tag, and fishing harvest cards. If we get a little break in the rain (we seem to be day 2 into 40 days and 40 nights), maybe do some predator calling. If it stays wet, probably work on the tractor .. basic oil change 'n' such. Got some burning to do, one fallen tree to pick up / dispose of (chain saw and a good fire). It never ends.

Heading back to camp one more time before the season ends. I'll leave on Tuesday. Will have 5 more days till the season ends. Between me and the kids we got 5 Deer and 5 Pigs in the freezer. I don't need another one. probably just sit with my nephew or son in law. They haven't shot a Deer yet. The weather is gonna be good. It will be nice just to go enjoy the camp with family before it starts to get warm.

Well it's deer season here until the end of the month so I'm going to stay at it. Probably not tomorrow though as they want 20 mph winds

Do some maint. on the deer hunting land and work on the feeders that the bear hosed up. I'm gonna hose his a$$ up next season.

Switch over to offshore fishing the gulf stream off NC. Mahi, tuna, wahoo. Then bottom bouncing once the offshore bite gets to hit or miss.

I have the master bath and BR to re-model, and I need to decide when I'm going to quit public work.

Also be spending a lot of time at the tying bench in prep for trout season.
Lots of dreaming about the coming deer season.

cold weather is moving in here in Minnesota " like below zero " some snow is coming also ? but it looks like a good weekend to watch football ! other wise i probably do some more reloading and shooting my 6BR if its not windy. deer season in Minnesota ended December 31 st for archery ,rifle season was closed on November 19th . actually this is a very easy winter so far and good conditions for deer but here in Minnesota we have way too many wolves and the people at the Mn. state capitol are liberals and wolf lovers so our deer population is low in most areas of the northern half of the state because of wolves.

Last hunting I did was New Years day, which was the last day of late muzzle loader season. Now it's time for some reloading and getting busy putting my Encore rifle in 7mm-08 back together. It's currently a 15" 7mm-08 handgun with a Leupold 2.5-8x pistol scope, but I also have a 23" T/C Custom Shop rifle barrel and a thumbhole laminate rifle stock for it by Boyd's. Then it's getting a scope swap. It's cool having both barrels in 7mm-08. Then it's time to refinish the thumbhole stock I got a few months ago for the CVA Scout in 444 Marlin. In the next couple months the rifle collection, ( or accumulation?), will get thinned out a bit with the help of a local auction house as part of my ongoing downsizing plan.

Lots of home improvement projects interspersed with snowmobiling once we get enough snow to get the trails in good shape.

I’m thinking about selling down the herd of rifles I own

What I’m gonna do now is Religiously stalk your posts and pray that my wife is not checking the accounts or safe grin

Other than that, I have a rifle I need to bed. A couple others that need scopes or scopes that need to move around. Some stuff to sell. Some loading to do. Blind either needs a serious overhaul or I need to build or buy a new one. Need to take the kids shooting more.

Time to get my projects done that went on hold August 15. I’ll reserve 3-5 days monthly for Pig whacking in the darkness.

I’ve got a 2006 model 22’ ft Pontoon boat to sell. It needs minor updates that the new owner will benefit from.

We are finishing the inside of a new house at deer camp about to head out to work.
Plan to build a box stand or 2 for my wife to hunt out of. We are going to do some planting this year. 2 or 3 good food plots. There are always ckearing to do along the roads. I have already been loading ammo.

In addition to deer season being done, I retired 30DEC, so time is on my side for a change.

Once this artic blast is done (4 degrees now, feels like -15) I'll start chasing squirrels and coyotes.

Then the projects start. I've got some clearing o do on my deer engagement area on the back 40, firewood to cut and split, new shelving for the barn, I'm also going to put in new railroad ties on the pistol range. After that's complete, I'd like to refinish my big duck boat and rework the blind system.

I've also got matches coming up starting in March.

I had a disappointing season after one great deer shot abd two good ones on my lease, I was hunting three absolute monsters that I had on camera a lot . One showed up 2 minutes after shooting light ended and I only saw him looking for hogs with a green light.

I did a great food plot this year and put in more work at the lease than previous years . That’s hunting right? Onto the next year and a second lease .

I have the gun room to clean up and put the deer season stuff away. I have three new rifles to load for so I can shoot them when the weather warms up and see what they like. I need to load a couple hundred 410's for Quail in Georgia in two weeks and when I get back it's load shotgun shells like a mad bandit for the upcoming sporting cleays season. I go through almost 8,000 shells in 12, 16, 20 & 28ga from the end of April to the begining of October. Somewhere along the line I like to find time to prowl the woods with a rimfire looking for squirrels.
Dam I'm tired just thinking about all this.

Too much to list all out. Numerous rifles that I either want to work up first time loads for, or bed, or one or two that I might come up with a peep sight for over using a scope. Shells to load for a couple buddies, zero turn that needs gone over and mower belt replaced before spring.

House got hit with hail back in the summer, just finalized the insurance claim on that with what all is going to be covered. New roof, siding, facia, deck redone, gutters & downspout, 1 garage door, so that fixing by a contractor is coming up.....lots going on.

Hiking, hopefully on a couple of new trails. Already got 40+ plus miles for this month. Calling coyotes, and installing a small safe in our second home. Spent two afternoons, cutting and hauling firewood for a veteran friend earlier this week. Have preference points to buy and soon another eik application.

Loading for two rifles then sight in, shoot new handgun acquisitions. Go to weekly swap meet where there's a building full of gun guys who like to buy/sell/trade, tell stories and generally BS.

Finish load development on the 7mm-08 and start development for a new .308.
Toss a trail cam up on a stock pond to see if the big non typical blacktail has returned.
Steelhead are starting to pour into the rivers and I’ve got all the gear ready to go.
Toss flies for trout in the upper river and daydream about the upcoming caddies and salmonfly hatches coming up!

This afternoon is the last of deer season. Tomorrow I start trapping varmints. I'm surprised more hunters don't trap, I have a bunch of fun and really look forward to seeing what I've caught everyday.

I have 20 feeders out and cameras on half of them. And only get pictures of hogs every 3 - 4 weeks. I don't know why they leave but I'm glad they do. Last time through they rooted or pushed a feeder over and of course it landed on the solar panel.

I doubt I will get out before Jan. 31 for bow in Wisconsin. I will likely sell my Savage .223 Rem with a bull barrel and buy a compact .223 Rem that is much more practical for hunting. There is about 17" of snow on the ground and will be below - 11 F for a few nights. If it warms up , I might try fishing by the power plant on Lake Michigan for Brown trout and sometimes a big northern.. never did it before .

I’ll hunt coyotes and pigs when I’m not cutting firewood or hunting arrowheads until April when the saugeye start to bite. Then it’ll be crappie and saugeye fishing until it gets too hot and we’ll transition to nighttime catfishing for big flatheads and blues.Dove season in September to carry us through. It’ll be deer season again before we know it.

Well...I'm going to keep hunting deer until 2/10.

After that, catch up on farm chores, get back to shooting a couple times a week, and see if I can call a few yotes in.

I'll be winding up the habitat work in the next week or so. Girdling, hinging or dropping trees to release the better trees (Oak & Black Cherry).

Planting a couple hundred acorns in the basement. Mostly hybrids.

Cutting apple scions.

Trimming current oak saplings and cleaning out their tube shelters (several 100).

Got a couple impulse-buy Kimbers that I need to decide whether or not I'm going to keep.

Continue working up loads for 7mm-08 and .30-06 for Barnes bullets.

Start on loads for a Montana .223 with 62 grn TBBC's. I'd like to whack a deer with that next season.

Probably go steelhead fishing. Haven't done that in about 10 years.

Most importantly, spend time with the grandkids!
