I have read a few Erik Larsen and really enjoyed the research he put in and storytelling ability of the author. MY BIL turned me on to a few of his books the best likely being "Dead Wake" about the Lusitania. In return I sent him "Code Name: Lise", about a decorated female spy for the allies during WW2 by Larry Loftis. He loved it.

Has anyone else read these and have something similar to recommend? I have read "A Man Called Intrepid" and another about Juan Pujols Garcia. Doesn't have to be WW2 related.

Opinions?

Isaac’s Storm, about the 1900 Galveston hurricane was a very good read.

Thank antlers. I have visited Galveston and toured homes where folks took refuge during the storm. Some really heart wrenching reports of incidents that happened that day.

Hmmm maybe I will look for something a little less....tragic ... for now.

Larson’s Devil in the White City is an incredibly written story.

My wife just tried to read his book about Churchill during the blitz and just couldn’t finish it which is something she is a voracious reader and nearly always finishes what she starts.
