Jaguars are occasionally spotted in southern Arizona. It is my understanding they are more plentiful the further south you go into Mexico. This is pretty much the northernmost range for jaguars.

Most of the Jaguar sightings (infrequent) in AZ since the 1960s have been in the general region where he is filming. I was fortunate to see one in that area for a few minutes in the 1970s. Apparently a male was roaming down there rather steadily for a while and those who knew of it named him - if memory is any good it was "El Tigre" - but that could be bad info.

Give Jason Miller the credit he is due; he figured out how to get on this guy and put in the time.

This was on the news a few days ago.

One of my friends had cameras all over the Santa Rita’s before it was illegal to use them for hunting purposes. He got El Jefe near Rosemont mine and Temporal canyon just a few days apart. He also got an ocelot. I saw his pics so it is not hearsay. I hunt Mearns quail in the border country near where Miller got his video. This land is very special and different than found further north. These northern Jaguars are coming up from an area around 150 miles directly south of Douglas Az. The area is called the Northern Jaguar Preserve. I am using my phone. When I get to my computer I’ll link the preserve and add other bits of information about jaguars.

You're not kidding laugh

And amazing video. The quality and sound is amazing. I never had a game cam with that quality. Was that a ring tail cat or a coatimundi?
