The wife quilts and my daughter makes most of her own clothes. She made her wedding dress and used the same material to make her husband’s tie.

Yes, and she's damn good at it too.

She's got a newer machine. She made a few Halloween costumes for my kids, some clothes but now it's just repairs and very basic projects.

My wife likes to sew and is quite accomplished at it, as is her mother. The problem is, she is currently working two jobs and doesn't have any time for the things she likes to do.

My little Chinese gal can pretty much do anything she wants. She gets on YouTube and before you know it, the furniture is covered in elaborate doilies, there are braided rugs all over the floor, scones in the oven, and paintings on the wall. Now she’s learning to play the guqin, an ancient Chinese 7-string instrument. Taught herself to use an ancient Singer once belonging to my stepmother. No interest in making clothes, but she hems pants and fixes stuff as needed. She helps me skin deer, cleans the fish we catch, and since I’m nursing a bum knee, she even helped me drag three deer out of the woods this past season.

Nine years of wedded bliss (mostly) as of today.

Yes, mine is always up in her sewing room sewing. It’s a side business. She does alterations for wedding dresses, prom dresses, and that sort of stuff. There’s always a parade of young ladies coming through the house and I get kicked out I have to go down to the shop for a while.

Four Serger Sewing Machines. 10 regular sewing machines. Embroidery machines. She can get whatever she wants. She runs a store and makes kuspuks which are the traditional Alaska Native hoodie. She can pretty much do anything related to beading, pottery, painting, sewing, crafting, jewelry making. I am not bragging. During summers, you can find us at her giftshop/boutique The Little Willow in Pioneer Park.

My grand mother was the last woman I knew that was good with sewing
She worked hard at a local sewing factory trying to take care of my dumb ass
She was a wiz with needle in hand or on the machine
Wish I could tell her how wonderful
She was

I remember when Mrs. Vern Varenhorst had a column in the Storm Lake paper titled, "Sew What".

My wife "rips" where she does not "sew".

My Wife's mom used to sew both JC Penney's, and Levi jeans at Alfs.

She does. Makes a lot of neat things, and gives her a lot of joy.

Yep. "Nothing. It's fine.". Oh, I misread the title. It is "sew" not "stew."
