If I am going to use an RMR sight like a vortex venom, will a magnifier work with it? or do those only work best with red dot or prizm scopes?

I'd imagine you will find yourself trying to solve optic height / line of sight issues with that kind of optic. Typically they are not used in the manner your question suggests. Not saying it can't be done, but I suspect you are mountain climbing rather than solving. If you can solve the optical plane challenge, you'll likely still be faced with a magnified frame / housing issue presented by the RMR through the magnifier.

Were it me, I'd abandon this idea and pursue a traditional red dot optic and magnifier.

That's what I thought the issue might be. Thanks for the help I will most likely either go red dot/magnifier combo or just an RMR.
