which do you prefer? and why .....bob

Depends on the specs, make, battery life, and use. I have fiber/tritium stuff and RDs. The Aimpoint stuff I can generally leave on for the next 10yrs plus and not worry. The stuff that has shake-awake settings will probably last as long. Deciding is not the issue it used to be on battery vs fiber/tritium. It’s more about eye relief, magnification or not, FOV, parallax, size, weight, range, astigmatism, dot style, etc.

Most of my dot sights are Aimpoint or Holosun, for the reasons mentioned above.

I have both. I have:

Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-10x56
Trijicon Credo 4-16x50 (battery)
Meopta Meosport R 3-15x50 (battery)
Meopta Optika 6 3-18x56 (battery)
Schmidt Bender Polar 4-16x56 (battery)

Each has its own place and what do you intend to do with it. My son has now taken over the Accupoint and loves it. No need to turn off and on and is always ready to go. I have heard there the tridium has a lifespan, but mine is still going strong. My others are battery powered. The Polar gets used the most being its on my dedicated low light hunting rifle. It has the ability to be turning so low on the lowest setting that its barely visible in low light. Which is great because for its intended purpose, it doesn't overpower you pupil thus makes for great low light hunting. The Optika 6 and Meosport R also have adjustments but don't quite get as low as the Polar. The Polar, Optika 6, Meosport R all have the #4 reticle with illuminated center dot.

The credo's illumination is the entire reticle instead of just the center dot. I don't use it in low light hunting for that fact, however the glass is very nice. As far as battery life, it really depends on what you plan on doing with it. All of mine can be daylight bright but I don't understand why you would want that. More illumination, more battery drain, etc. My Polay is about 4 years old and still on the original battery. I open it up every year before hunting season to check it out and all is well with no issues.

I personally haven't had any issues with mine. It also depends on what you want to spend.

Meopta Meosport R is $499 to the Polar which is north of $2500. So, it really depends on your needs as well as your budget.

Accupoint 3-9 green dot duplex is a top choice for this imo. Or mildot duplex in green if you want a few hold over points. Even on snow in bright sun the fiber optic amplifies over that and dot lights up against it. It was one of my test criteria before committing to these scopes. Now the illumination has proven a natural for hunting and very intuitive and quick.

Since moving out of the PNW to where I tan instead of rust most of my illuminated dot scope are off the rifles. If I can see a coyote enough to know he is there a heavy duplex or circle plex works fine and the scopes are lighter. In the PNW dark over cast the dot was great. Mine were 1.5-6x40's with illuminated dots. Down here I have an Elite 4500 1-4x24.on my 788 222 calling rifle, the effective range of the 222 is well within the capabilities of a 1-4 the extra FOV is great in the mesquite brush.

Another Vote for the Accupoint line. Mine are green Dots and they are ALWAYS on!
