Can run the ARC and Valk in AR15 compared to creed in AR10. Looking for this platform or bolt?

I recently had a Sig Cross rebarreled to 22 Creed. The smith told me the Creed was a hot cartridge in comparison to the 22 ARC. He said the Creed life expectancy would be around 1000 rounds vs 1500 for the ARC. Have yet to begin load work. I’m not worried about it.

I can't speak on the other two, but it looks like the Valkyrie is dying a slow death...if you are interested in the round, I'd buy all the brass/ammo you can find.

224 Val is a hot mess and you don't want one.

22 Creedmoor and 22 ARC are designed for very different rifles so there is no way to compare those rounds.

In a bolt gun the 22 Creedmoor is great.

In a AR-15 the 22 ARC is okay.

You don't seem to know what rifle platform you want so selecting the cartridge is pretty hard at this point.

Maybe you should choose some kind of use parameters for this rifle?

SAAMI throats.

If one specs a better throat then it's no longer a 22 Val. Add some freebore @.2245 and stretch out the leade angle, that will work well. If you can source brass.

The PPC/Grendel cases are easier to source.

It's up to you, but 22 Val in SAAMI spec is really not well done. It's a shame because it could have been well done.

When I posted, I was thinking AR15 platform for longer range target practice, coyotes, and groundhogs. After the rifle question was posed, I remembered that modern sporting rifles (misidentified as assault rifles) now have to be registered (for later confiscation) in Illinois. So... Now, I'm thinking bolt action or wait until SCOTUS hopefully strikes the law down.

For a light weight, low recoiling (wife and young son might shoot) bolt rifle capable of long range target practice and critters up to coyotes or such, would you recommend the .22 Creedmoor? My wife currently has a 6.5 Creedmoor.

If SCOTUS strikes down Illinois law, what would you recommend in the AR 15 platform for the same purpose?

THANKS!

Depends on how fast the owner shoots of course, but I think that barrel-life estimate for the ARC is pretty pessimistic. It’s only burning what, 30gr of powder?

A Barrett tech told me I could expect about 2000 rounds from my 6CM I didn’t get it too hot.

I suspect that if they do strike it down, the Dems will be back with another one the next day. They have all the time in the world to craft their bullschitt, and all your money to pay for it. Bruen is just a speed bump for them.

Pretty easy build on any "short-action" 2.8" COAL or longer bolt action. Pick whatever action and ergos you like, order a bbl 1:8 or faster, have it threaded/chambered and bang away. Brass and dies are getable and there's a ton of good .224 projectiles. You can choose from "as much BC as you can get" to (within reason) "I'd like to match the BC/velocity of XXX hunting rifle/bullet for practice".

Having a 22 Grendel i can tell for sure much easier to tune than the Valkyrie with 100fps or more velocity advantage.
