This is something I worked on for about a year.
Over 2K rounds fired once the final load was determined.


This is a Poly-Coat Hard Cast Semi Wadcutter .40 S&W with a velocity of 1200 FPS.

Fired from a Gen 3 Glock 22 (factory barrel). As well as other .40s.








This is an extremely accurate load. I had three major goals in mind for the Trail and Town .40+P project. I wanted Accuracy, High Velocity, and Reliability. This is the result after a bunch of work.








This 170 grain Poly-Coat .40 is a hot load, and compares to some of the 10mm loads on the market. In doing some research, I noted that PMC has a 170 grain 10mm load that has a stated velocity of 1200 FPS. PPU's 170 grain 10mm has a stated velocity of 1115 FPS.


Someone (a customer) brought up the point that a 170 grain SWC at 1200 FPS is real world .357 magnum velocities, in a semi auto. That was a very good point.

Most people I have found grip a standard frame 9mm/40 better than they do the large frame 45/10mms, and they shoot them better as well. I had some people shoot this for me in the last 6 months and the ones who did not have extensive shooting experience with .45s and 10mms tended to shoot the .40 quite a bit better in terms of both accuracy and speed in between shots. The experienced shooters did not have as big of a performance gap but they definitely put in better performance with the smaller frame gun shooting the +P .40 load.

This deep penetrating .40 load will make an excellent "one gun/load" type solution for those who want to use their carry gun as a gun for large animal defense. No need to switch ammo. One load for trail or town.





I am looking forward to some guys using some of this ammo for handgun hunting as the accuracy has been excellent.
