Considering the Cane has probably been used without modification in self defense for 2,000 years, you are correct.

100s of jokes about being beaten with your own cane. Goes back to Cain and Abel

The cane is just a modified staff, which has been used a lot longer than 2000 years. Staffs were modified to get through doorways and fashion, and just like nunchucks, chains, sai, they evolved as weapons because the ruling class didn't allow firearms, or swords.

My Dad is 93 and his cane is huge, can’t remember what kind of wild tree it’s made of, he’s 6’ 4” and on a walker now, I will get his to add to the barrel. Wouldn’t want that across the knees.

San Mai is cool, but it's hard to beat modern mono steels. Not going to get a delamination with 80CRv2 or 8670.

You can beat someone with a walker if you know how. Great for pinning the staff against the wall and head butting them when they don't give you your jello.

Leupolds.

At one time, canes were a wardrobe accessory for gentlemen I believe? Watch out for the gold-headed ones. He's trying to lure you within sward range. smile

I don't think the knife fight will go that long. I don't use it for anything else. Anyway its the technique not the blade, and I don't mean icepick. Any knife long enough to keep distance, and deliver a good snap cut.
