So elsewhere I posted on getting a Savage 24V series D in 222/20gauge
So what are good bullets/powder loads for it?

Any good 40-50 grain bullet.
Prefer poly tip, HP or SP?
RL-7, IMR 4198, Win 748. Probably Xterminator if you can get some Ramshot powders.

What are you wanting to do with the 222?
Squirrels, or something extreme like the Eskimos who use a 222 on a polar bear or Grizzley?
Lotta middle ground in there....
Survival ? or just casual hunting?...
You being from BC, there is a even lot more middle ground in there, then say some guy from California.

Since the 222 is paired with a 20ga as an O/U it is meant as a close range weapon, 20ga to 40 yards+ 222 to 100 yards+ common sense would dictate not a polar bear or grizzle bear gun best 222 load for my rifles has been 50gr Blitzkings with VVN130.....too bad Lapua quit making brass for it.

52gr Speer flatbase HP, big hollow point on it and works well for everything from GS to coyotes. It is my go-to bullet for calling coyotes in a number of cartridges, accurate and reasonably priced.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

H-322 is the first powder I try in a 222. It used to be IMR-4198 but most of my 222s do a little better with H-322. A 40 grain tipped bullet helps preserve the velocity and Sierra’s Blitzing, Nosler’s BT and Hornady’s VMax have all done well depending on the rifle.

I burn a lot of IMR 4198, but I find H 322 to be more accurate about every time... Its nice to have a choice, when either one will turn in excellent results.

I've never found 322 to be tops in any 222 I've had.
LT-32 is a damn good 40gr./222 powder.
It really won't amount to much for powder if your shooting a 24; old school 4198, 3031, RL-7 or 4895 or N133 probably are all going to do about the same with that platform.

There are lots of options for 222rem powder. For heavier bullets you have plenty of options. Benchmark, Varget, and H335 are my preferred powders. There are so many more that will work fine also. I’m currently reloading 222 rem with H335 powder and we’re getting good accuracy with good velocity.

There are lots of good ones but 4198 and 322 have been all I've ever used or felt like I needed.

I found the 222 to not be picky. Mine has done well a variety of bullets, powders and primers. I guess I feed it like a stray dog so to speak. Scraps comprised of odds and ends of bullets and partial bottles of unused powders, it has really surprised me, has yet to make me mad.

Classic load of 20.0gr IMR4198 under a 52gr Speer HP in Starline brass w/ CCI400's has produced multiple one hole groups from my Howa Mini. I get about 3100fps from that setup. Only thing I don't care for is the 4198 does not work worth a hoot in my RCBS powder measure.

Love that load myself... but IMR 4198, or H 4198 work JUST FINE with a good set of Lee Dippers and a 505 scale. oh, and don't leave out good old RL 7! But then... I use this in a 223, shooting 222 Velocities.
