I have a New Model SS Single Six and it is one of if not my favorite handgun. Just bought one of Fermin Garza’s front sights, and now am looking to upgrade the grips.

To me the factory laminated grips look nice enough they just feel rather large to me. My Vaquero has a narrow Colt SAA feel to the grips while the Single Six feels blocky.

Does anyone know someplace that specializes in Single Six replacement grips that would or could make a replacement that is a bit less blocky?

I just put cocobolo Hogues on mine and they are chunkier than the factory ones. I like the full hand. The factory set had sharp angles near the trigger guard.

You’re in luck that grips are prolific and relatively cheap since they fit Blackhawk and Vaquero. And maybe the wrangles (I think). There are a ton of take off grips available on eBay you can try

I put a set of the checkered black plastic ones off an anniversary Blackhawk on mine and like them. They’re thinner than the wood ones and sharply checkered. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

I’ve also noted the grips that are a bit squarish just behind the trigger guard. Same thing on some Blackhawks and I’ve been intending to round them off a bit.

My Colt SAA came with black checkered grips and I immediately got different grips...and then went back to the black plastic factory grips. I really like the feel, and I like that old school look.

Speak with Henry at Texas Grips and tell him what you need. Nice workmanship, good prices, short delivery time and willing to work with you. At least that was my experience. YMMV.

I replaced the thin cheap feeling plastic factory grips with laminated wood and the guns fill my hands better and look nicer

grips and holsters both came from Ruger, ordered from the website

Just built these for my Super Wrangler. Much better than the thin plastic ones.

Got a set of new Ruger SBH laminated black grips and they required some fitting, smoothing. Pretty crappy contour job whoever made em

At least they had extra wood where they shouldnt LOL.
Still.not as nice as older grips ive had, but cleaned up to usable.
