That is cool! It’s a quiet morning here with a light frost. Birds are singing. Owls hooting back and forth. I pileated woodpecker sounding off in the bottom. Slowly easing along getting a lay of the land. There are remarkably steep bluffs on this lease. 3 food plots. Impenetrably thick stuff in places. A few unexploited opportunities for woods stands.

Official sunset is at 5:27. I’ll get a feel for how good this Trijicon Credo 3-9x40 is over the course of the next 30 minutes. Clear skies. Moon doesn’t rise for a while. Open field. It should take me to 30 minutes after sunset.

Yes. When I retired we bought a place in Alabama solely for the unique late January/early February rut, and season that accommodates it.

I killed my second of three bucks last week and have one more to go.

Public and Semi-public (ie paper company) land...no stands, still hunting/stalking.

It's simply becoming my favorite time/place of the year...

Another 3 hours before last legal shooting time. We have talked to quite a few people in the surrounding area. Nobody is seeing anything. Rain is 4-5 hours away. Maybe that’ll get them moving.

Haha. You sound like a friend of mine who used to be a naval aviator and then went to commercial pilot. Had plenty of dough. Had a small fleet of motorcycles for people to go riding with him.

Hope that works out.

Your leaseholder person have any cameras out? Have the critters gone nocturnal?

Maybe they'll come out to feed before the storm gets there. I'm selfish, I wanna see pics of deer who met their demise at your hand

. I do have a fleet of bicycles. That’s my buds truck. He has a tree service. Just heard a rifle boom about a half mile away. Wasn’t my bud. Maybe it bodes well for them moving.

I had a big sow in my crosshairs last night back at the camp. About 40 yards away. Had my 10/22 with a muffler. Would have to be an ear shot. Couldn’t quite steady up enough to guarantee the shot. Stepped on a pine cone trying to move to a tree I could use for a rest. She eased off.
