My days of hunting anything larger than deer are officially over. So, my elk rifle, the finest rifle I've ever owned, is officially looking for a new home. 1957 Winchester Model 70 .338 Winchester, I was told it's a Lilja barrel but it's not marked as such. No maker markings, but whoever built it knew how to do it right. I've only shot one load through it with a 210 Partition. Shoots under an inch for 3. This rifle has been hunted and used, alot, but not abused. It has a few dings and marks, but no major damage. The action is glass bedded and the barrel is full length bedded. My kids and grandkids are all taken care of with their own firearms already, so this one can go. $2750 to your FFL. Rifle only, no scope.

Wow. Were that in a normal deer cartridge, I'd be doing some serious thinking. Beautiful.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Could not agree more to the statement. One of my favorite aspects of the fire is getting to see such fine examples of art and function put to good use as shown in these photos. One of my least favorite is not being in a position to type in the three magic words this one deserves. GLWS

Very nice. Reminds me of Al Biesen's work. It looks like a duck*, quacks like a duck and lives in the duck's hometown, so it's probably a duck, but unfortunately its not marked as a duck... *Duck=Biesen

Nice rifle. The various magnums (7mm and up) seem to be hard sells these days.

Nice rifle. The various magnums (7mm and up) seem to be hard sells these days. Probably as much due to the "appropriate" hunts for these rifles being such hard buys these days for most., not to mention the challenges with the hand loading components and such. The rifle appears to be a pretty good bang for the buck. Gorgeous.
