Everybody will have a different opinion, and a week isn't much, but I think I'd have to recommend the Redwoods...from Fort Bragg California to Brookings Orygun, Highway 1 and 101 north as far as you can before you have to head home. Southern Orygun Coast is uncrowded and as good as it gets.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
You could do the Black Hills in South Dakota. They is tons to see there, and then Devil's Tower in Wyoming. Then Yellowstone park. That would be a great road trip.

That would be my suggestion also and I’d add the Little Bighorn battle site to the list.
Since the OP has been to the South West I’d checkout the Rocky Mountain West this time around.

If I were you I’d do a loop; take the southern route out and northern route back.
Do you mind driving all day to see something, get out of the car to see it, and drive on to the next target? Or would you rather stay a day or so to look over some big attractions?
My family did a vacation to SW Colorado a few years ago. We stayed in Pagosa Springs and my son and I fished the San Juan for native cuts. We took a day and hit the cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde NP which was cool.
If I were doing what you are Ida cont’d down/out to Grand Canyon and up through Zion then up to Tetons & Yellowstone and over to Black Hills & Badlands. Drop down to 80 on 29 along the Missouri and you’re almost home again.
Little Bighorn is a detour north between Yellowstone & Black Hills.
Lotta driving but damn the scenery. That’d be pretty amazing!
Go drive on the Bonneville Salt Flats west of SLC. Then go camp at the Blue Lake, an oasis in the desert 15 miles S of Wendover on the Utah/Nevada line.
