According to his son, that's exactly what happened.

What's interesting is the FBI got this guys name from the phone records of another guy they prosecuted then "introduced Undercover Employee (UCE1) to Faye via TikTok."
The incitement reads like a retelling of what happened to Randy Weaver expect they got in to provide the feebs an unregistered silencer, and minus the killing of his dog, wife, and son.

In the past 24 years has the fbi ever caught a "terrorist" or "extremist" without putting them up to the action they were arrested for?
I would venture it's in the single digits if any.
Fbi SOP, find nut, send CI to approach nut. Have CI provide planning, equipment, etc to do "x" illegal thing. Arrest nut. Pretty easy creating your own investigation, much like dope investigations.
They've arrested a nutcase that wasn't going to do anything, but look at the press this will get, and we all know who will get smeared as being his several million accomplices.
They've already gotten thousands of miles of propaganda concerning the January 6,2021 rebellion and insurrection at the capital where thousands of MAGA Republicans stormed the capital and tried to install their losing candidate that lost a free and fair election. You know it was worse than Pearl Harbor.
This case will be touted as bringing down a multi-state MAGA militia that was intent on starting a border war.

Yep.
And The Fire will get a dozen new users all paid by the Federal Bureau of Instigation, PM'ing member for their phone numbers, wanting to see pictures of your unregistered silencers, and asking "What are you ready to do"?
These could also be long time members who turned over their accounts to the Feds after getting jammed up and forced to cooperate.

Want to silence an AK? You have an uphill battle. Back in Issue 26, we covered a pair of dedicated AK silencers — one from Gemtech and another from Dead Air. Since that time, a handful of other purpose-built Kalashnikov suppressors have been released, but what if you don’t want to buy a silencer specifically for an AK? That’s what this article is for.
Chances are, if someone only owns one silencer, it’s either for 22LR or for 7.62N — this piece is for those who fall into the latter category. A 7.62N silencer as a “do all” is a very common first NFA purchase. The rationale behind a 7.62N can is pretty simple: companies typically advertise them as being good for 5.56 and other smaller calibers as well.
But if you want to use your normal 7.62N silencer, undoubtedly not designed for AKs, there’s some work you have to do to overcome the issues. Threads are often not concentric to the bore — blame Soviet precision. Rarely is an AK thread pattern readily available in your standard fare silencer, and there’s no shoulder to speak of for a silencer to seat against. AKs are already so overgassed; adding backpressure from a silencer just makes it a heavily recoiling mess.
