The crap hits the fan! Would you rather have a box of 500 rounds of 9mm hollow points or 1000 round box of target ammo?

Why would one have to cut back to such low numbers?

If you can hit what you are shooting at I would rather have expanding bullets so I could shoot once and move to the next threat.

When someone talks about SHTF, I have to ask...

Do you mean IT HASN'T HIT THE FAN YET? Sure seems like its already hit the fan listening to the news on a daily basis.

With all the illegals that have been let into this nation by the DemocRATS, I'd say we have sleeper cells, from multiple nations, scattered from sea to shining sea in this country. At the drop of the hat, they are ready to spring into action in a guerrilla warfare scenario within our borders. Its only a matter of time and when....

anyone who doubts that, isn't paying attention or having their eye on the ball...

Its like the Children's story of the " Kings New Clothes".. most of the public is blind to the most obvious....

Many groups want to carve up and destroy this nation, because we stand in the way of their objectives. And here an entire political party sets the stage and holds the gates open for them, greeting them with the RED CARPET treatment.

"Minus the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the Country" Marion Barry, Mayor of Wash DC

If?

I think you meant When...

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

When it hits, you need a rifle. The handgun is to help you get to the rifle.

In a SHTF scenario, You only need enough ammo to get more ammo.

Do you know why many World War I pilots carried a handgun? Because they would rather end it quickly than burn to death. (They didn't have parachutes.)

If the crap really hit the fan, why even try to survive and live a miserable life in horrible conditions?

Just food for thought... Pleasant dreams.

Because if you're prepared and have 1/2 a brain about you - the existence isn't horrible. It might not be what you have today but it's a far cry from "burning alive".

I disagree. I guess it depends upon one's definition of how bad things get when the chit hits the fan. The first thing that comes to my mind is nuclear war.

It wouldn't have to be anything as drastic as a nuclear war.

You'd probably be best served with just the one round, HP/Match shouldn't matter.

If you have bullets, you have bullets. Shtf isn't a great time to be picky.

HP's will kill a guy, yes. Target rounds can, too, but the odds are higher that it will injure him. It's the old WWII adage that a dead enemy is 1 less to fight. A wounded enemy will require at least a couple others to help get him to safety and medical care. That takes 3 or more enemies off the field.
500 HP rounds can remove 500 enemies. 1000 target rounds can remove 3000.

OTOH, is the old adage true or not?

Do you think that suicide squads are concerned about the long-term survival of one of their own who is seriously wounded in a terror attack? I don't know, I don't see them undergoing a rescue mission to evacuate a wounded fellow terrorist seriously injured in the act of attacking some place in America. I feel like they might have the outlook that if one of them gets wounded and your mobility prevents you from escaping, then whatever happens after that is on the wounded goon. I kinda doubt the "no man left behind" thing applies to hoodlums or terrorists.

I'd want target less for wounding but to punch through a chest rig or the general state of the average American when it comes to BMI. Hole in the lungs is gonna suck regardless. If I have to shoot and hit the pelvic girdle due to body armor instead - I'd want something to punch through. As Clint Smith said "Shoot them in the crotch! It's not a kill shot but it's one hell of an introduction. Hi my name's Faith and this is only going to get worse..."

5K rounds of .22 rimfire will be a lot easier to carry, and a 22 can get you all the bigger guns you can haul around in a pickup truck. Same concept as the stamped steel Liberator single shot .45 ACP guns that were air dropped to the partisans in occupied Europe by the thousands. After one shot from one of them the guerilla warrior would have a K98 and plenty of ammo.
