As the title says has anyone had any luck with win 760 and 162’s in the 7mm-08’s’
I know Win 760 isn’t the most temp stable but I have a pile of it and don’t currently shoot it in anything but my 300 wsm so figured I would give it a shot.
Any advice is appreciated.

Not the 162's but I had good luck with it and 140NP was able to get enough powder in the case to get to 2970 in a 24" tube. If you have some bullet stuffed down in the case I bet it will work for the same reason.

Well, Varget is a little faster & H4350 is a little slower, but Nosler shows data for both Varget & H4350 with 160's, so 760 should work, but might not be optimum for best velocity.

MM This gets brought up all the time: 7mm-08 with 162's. Some guys running IMR4461, and Hunter to get 2650fps +. That's what I'd be looking for. H414 does work very well with 140's.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Don’t discount RL26. My experience is it’s more stable than 760…and velocities tend to run 100fps faster than traditional powders.

I do have ample quantities of R26 and H4350 both but shoot them in several rifles. Just happened into an 8# of 760 for a really good price and have a few pounds left over from old 300 wsm loads.

Well I have used W760 in my 7x57, a Winchester M70 Featherweight. Top speed was 2880 FPS with the early version of the 140 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips with sub MOA accuracy. Only problems I've had with that load are the bullet was a bit more fragile on game that I cared for and bolt lift was slighly sticky at 2880 when working up. IIRC, it was something like 110 in the shade that day. Load was OK regarding pressure later in the year when temps were in the 60's. I dropped it back to an ever 2800 FPS and called it good.
For quite a few years I've used ball type powders due to their easy flowing characteristics in my powder measure. Only needed to check weigh every 5 or 10 rounds. I never could get the larger stick type powders like 4350 or 4831 to measure evenly from the powder measure. I did go back to stick powder after I bought an RCBS Chargemaster.
Fr the 150 gr. Nosler partition I run with RL17 with very good results. I want to to see how my 7x57 does with the 160 gr. Speer Hot Core in that rifle but just haven't had the time to get around to trying it. That bullet along with the Speer 160 gr. Grand Slam shoots bug holes from my .280 Rem. Guess I should get off the stick and see what the results are. PJ
