bought a used "minty" BDL in 7mm Rem Mag. Haven't got to shoot it yet (too cold and snowy). The serial number (I think) is RR87438G I've been trying to figure out what year it is. Based on a few websites I think it's a Nov 1968 model. I'm really just curious as I bought my BDL in 270 Win in 1968 that I gave my son. I have a picture of the rifle and the serial number below. Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Chuck

Much newer with the scanner code on it...

Much newer with the scanner code on it... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS the 60's vintage guns had impressed checkering, no scan code.

Thanks all. Looks just like my late 60s BDL in 270. Next warm day I'll find out how it shoots. Had my gunsmith put a decelerator pad n, adjust the trigger to 2 3/4 lbs and mount my Leupold 3.5-10x50mm scope on it. Excited.

Chuck

A late 60's BDL would have a completely different stock than this one.

Late 60's would not have a letter prefix just a number. RR is within last 10 years.

So my hope is after we take it out shooting my son will want to trade me my old 270 for it lol. If not I'm sure i'll be very happy with it.
