I am looking for a cutting board to sit on the griddle portion of my range. I would like it to be 11-3/8" x 18" x 1-1/2" thick. Prefer end grain maple or walnut.
Thanks in advance.

Easy to make if you've got the wood handy, but do you want a wooden cutting board on your stove top when you're using other burners? RB

Thanks in advance. Try Etsy.com Or I will mail you a slab of wood. Your ask is not hard at all. Any guy with a sawmill can slab you 20" x 12" for $5

I don't mind paying for the craftsmanship of a nice piece.
3/4" to 1" thick might work better.

I’ve made several out of Cherry wood. I typically epoxy a rope into one end as a handle.

Would you consider something other than wood? I've made my own before out of rock maple, strips from 1 to 3 in wide and different color shades. Don't get me wrong, they came out beautiful, but I have a good friend that owns a glass business and he gave me some Lexan. I use those a lot more than the wooden ones that iv'e made, and they basically have no maintenance compared to wood.

He could shape it up from there. Cedar can be bad to split and crack, though. Perhaps it wouldn’t in this application. I don’t think I have any cherry long enough to help him. I’ll check tomorrow.

I ordered the rock maple I made mine with off of the world wide. I was not very expensive, but that was several years ago. I was always sketchy about using something softer for a cutting board, especially if cutting up raw meat on it. Hard to keep bacteria, mold etc. from growing inside the wood. Granted, it's always hot and humid down here so I don't know if that makes a difference in other states with colder climates.

Google cutting boards, plenty out there. I made this table a few months ago for a woman that lost her husband. He made this cutting board not long before he came down with brain cancer

A few years ago, we had students making cutting boards and cheese boards, and coasters, then sold then to fund the program.

Just something hard and non-toxic. End grain surface if possible. No exotic hardwoods as many are toxic. You can finish the cutting surface with food grade mineral oil.

Maple works good. I made one for my brother in law years ago with maple about 1 1/2" thick 16x24 I think, could've been bigger, bordered with Walnut. it turned out nice. I don't have any pics of it and he and my wife's sister are both dead now. Can't say what happened to the cutting board. It was big enough to roll out dough on, cut up a Brisket, Turkey or Ham on. We don't have the room for that here. It takes up a lot of counterspace.

I'm still using the cutting board my son made in middle school shop class. It is about 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 in square strips glued together. It is almost 50 yrs old and still going strong. Have a great day. Jim
