I stopped to look at a beat to s**t M96 Swedish Mauser at a show. The Mil stock was chopped off and the original stepped barrel had been cut to maybe 20", with the rear sight base melted off leaving solder smeared down the abbreviated length of the barrel. The seller informed me that the gun had an expensive stainless steel aftermarket barrel installed.

When I was in bootcamp, I had a drill who tried to tell us that the 5.56 bullet was made by the government to tumble purposely end over end because it created more flesh damage. I asked, respectfully, how a bullet tumbling end over end for 300 meters could still be accurate. He looked at me for about ten seconds, turned, and walked away.

I’ve used some of these whoppers to troll a few people (Big Stick and a few others) on this forum a while back, and got some unintended bites…so I had to stop.
It was fun though.

I think what they meant was if those green tipped devil hit about anything solid like a bone or whatever, they'd turn and start tumbling. Never made sense to me until I saw them in action. Saw many of them where they went in on the front and could come out a collar or turn and come out a hip. Just like a SMK, they were sorta unpredictable, but man, when they worked, they worked.

While looking over an older Marlin 336 at a gun show the proprietor's buddy walked up and announced with pride "....and it's a Pre-64!"

That you need premium hunting bullets to kill big game - the scenars I used over the years highly disagree with that statement....

The 6.5 CM uses "special" bullets.

Heard that many times as well, and I would always ask if they are tumbling, how come the target only shows the tiny .22 cal holes...any target, any range? That shut them up. Yeah the bullets are made to tumble AFTER they contact some softs fleshy target. Any old damned pointed FMJ will do that.

A three shot group is an indication of a rifle's potential. yes, i have heard that many times. what if you go 5 or 10 or 20 shots? newer cheap Tupperware rifles have a hard time doing a 10-shot group consistently.

Was at my friend's auto repair shop one friday night, after hours, where we drank beer and visited. This often had people bring their friends who we didn't know very well. My friend had recently acquired a rifle. He took it out and showed it around. One guy says he has the same Leupold. ( this is years ago when some Leupolds had rotating front objectives which adjusted parallax) Said he really liked the adjustable front which would compensate for distant shots. Just rotate it to the yardage shown, it will be zeroed for that distance. (shaking my head in disbelief)

The Sako rifles made in Finland are more valuable than the Sakos made in Japan. People thinking that Seiko and Sako are the same company.......

I have a 30-06 that is so accurate that I once shot a 5 shot group into one 25 caliber hole. Honest.

I've heard some barbarians shoot pigs with CB Shorts all the time and never lose.
Miniguns are a terrorist weapon at close range and simply evil at long range.
An M16 can kill an elephant with one shot. Water buffalo too.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
Tell me which of those is false please.
