Has anyone had positive results in tweaking these guns to make them more accurate? There are popular tricks out there to help a Ruger no 1 shoot better, for example.

Glass bed the forend. I do it on all my H&R and TC single shots. I don't know if it always works because I don't test them before I do it. It is just fun to do! Brian

Just the tip? Or the whole length?

Is the rifle not accurate, or are you just wanting to futz around with it?

I've got one in .308 that isn't accurate, and I'm wondering about my options. Got it new in January 2019, it got the trigger recall done on it about a year or so later. Had 3 or 4 different scopes and rings on it, checked the mounting rail repeatedly, lots of different handloads including known good target loads. Shoots decent groups at 50 yards, at 100 the groups open way up, to 3 or 4 inches if I'm lucky. Even with the factory iron sights it can't be called "accurate". It's had a total of 344 rounds through it now while I was seeking some kind of reasonable hunting accuracy. Finally got tired of fooling around with it. If there were some accurizing tips like I've seen for Ruger #1's then I, too, would be real interested. I have 2 other Henry products that I really like, so maybe I just got a lemon on this one. Even considered sending it back in the original box and expressing my displeasure to Henry. I'd hate to unload it on someone else without a full disclosure on it. Which means the value would be diminished quite a bit. Meanwhile it sits here in a rack because I've got enough other accurate hunting guns.

That ain’t good for certain. The early model .308 I had was quite accurate, comparable to a lot of bolt actions, but got javelined into something solid on its way home from the recall and while not visibly damaged, accuracy fell way off. I sent it back and they replaced the barrel, but it never was as good as before. I have a .357 now, which is accurate for what it is, and it definitely prefers to be shot with the bag under the frame and rear of the forend, like a lever action. Makes a big difference.

I suggest you contact Henry and see if they won’t take a look at yours. Their CS is very good.
