.22 short for racoon trap line. Adequate? Always used LR hollow points but have shorts to use up.

A friend of mine used the even quieter CB's of whatever. The hole in the head is what actually does the trick.

Yes they work well, in close quarters. Many critters fell to shorts, when hit between the shiny spots.

CB short to the brain has worked dozens of times.
Sounds like a pellet gun.

Shorts or CB caps both work just fine.

For trapped coons, absolutely. For one 60’ up a tree and refusing to present a head shot, I want something with a little more horsepower.

Pistol or rifle? Like em in rifle just fine. Killed stuff to 25 yards. My 541T HB shot em decent. Get CB longs, feed better.

My buddy used one exclusively on his trap lines. Works on foxes, coyotes, bobcats too.

The shorts sell higher than long rifle ammo now.

Don't underestimate shorts. There have been many beef cattle killed with them through the years. A head shot is all it takes.

I havent killed anything w CCI Quiet yet. Reg or segmented. If you have a choice, the segmented Long Rifles are the way to go, either in the Subsonic or HV flavors (the Quiets don't impress me much), or HV Short HPs. I've killed a lot of raccoons in my traps using all of those and they work great, the Quiets, not so much. Subsonics are "just enough" faster to kill better.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

.22 short for racoon trap line. Adequate? Always used LR hollow points but have shorts to use up. Colibri and super colibri. No powder at all. Just primed cases with bullets. Fox. Coyotes. Coons. Bobcats. Opossums. Never and issue in a trap.
