I have a very nice 54, 22 Hornet that really needs a trigger upgrade. Is it possible to use or adapt either a Mauser or Springfield aftermarket trigger to the 54?

Why do you want to change it?
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

The speedlock aftermarket kits for the 54 were getting scarce 40 years ago...now unobtainium. My suggestion would be to locate an olde tyme Mauser/Springfield smith and have him tune the 2 stage...a proper job done, and I promise you will hear a chorus of angels sing when you let the shot off.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

The Model 54 trigger assembly doubles as a bolt stop! No gunsmith here, but fooling with it portends the possibility of other "unintended consequences"! Far as I know, whatever "speed kit" or such, as affecting directly the striker. Not the trigger. While it does "impinge" in terms of heavier pressure upon the trigger, I believe it was neither intended for, nor did it directly affect the trigger performance beyond said pressure factor. Depending on the condition of your rifle/trigger/concerns/etc, there may be some "qualified gunsmith" relief short of an early era bolt rifle specialist! 'If' inclined to modify, I'd acquire a spare trigger upon which to experiment and retain the original untouched, as 'backup'! The Model 70 did substantially "improved" the 54 trigger in exactly the manner of performance and adjustability. My honest, genuine suggestion... If it is functioning safely & reliably, leave 'as is'! Said, non-gunsmith, but half century+ long owner of many Model 54 rifles... & my take! Good Luck! John

I have a 30 WCF 54 and a few pre-64 70s. The 54 has the best trigger out of all of them. It’s a two stage, so maybe apples to oranges, but that’s how it is!

The replacement M54 triggers came with a small metal block that was installed in the left lug raceway, and held in place with screws placed in the peep sight holes on the rear left side of the receiver.
The aftermarket trigger did not act as the bolt stop.

The aftermarket trigger did not act as the bolt stop. IF it's a good trigger, why mess with it? Some are saying it is better than a pre 64 model 70 trigger. I find that pretty hard to believe. Both are simple triggers. One being a 2 stage (more like a military trigger) and the other a nice tuneable single stage. I'd not replace either one, personally, but have replaced every military m1917 trigger I've ever had.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I just shoot the gun, really don’t give a lot of thought to the trigger
