Solution for immigration. Not today’s border problem, that can be resolved by closing the door. Long term is what I puzzle about. Couple thoughts: Make English the official language of the USA. Require those who wish to immigrate demonstrate the use and understanding of the language.

The last time I checked you have to be able to speak, read and write the English to become a Naturalized Citizen of the USA. The Democrats aren't following the law. The same thing should apply for registering to vote!

English and a working proficiency is REQUIRED by Federal Law to obtain a CDL.

It's rare to find a guy these days who actually speaks it well and has a good working proficiency. Oh, their dispatch in Bosnia/Serbia/Ukraine does very well but the guy running a 4 colored Volvo out of Chicago for peanuts - not so much. The rail yards down there have signs up in Polish and English but I suspect Polish is going by the wayside for other Balkan languages.

Its not just Balkan but Spanish, Arabic and Chinese. Had a driver once with phone issues - his phone was one he bought in China, that's how new he was but he had a CDL and was big rigging it all over California.

The law is worthless without enforcement.

I was in a Cabela`s some years ago and a Hispanic non citizen was doing paper work for a handgun .Fugger could not speak English and had an interpreter answer the questions on the form while the counter man filled it out . I went and showed the counter man on the form were it states it must be filled out by the purchaser . He just shrugged his shoulders and looked stupid.

What you have above. I would also require that if a person wants to immigrate to this country, they must possess a specific job skillset that is in demand here.

That was a requirement when my wife and I did our interview for our citizenship in 2000. Not sure it things have changed, or whether nobody cares anymore................

Eliminate the interpretation that if you’re born here, you’re a citizen.

Not citizenship for us, but this was needed for me to get a 3 year work permit.

+ had to have a valid job offer.

+ then had to prove why I was a better hire, than a Canadian national.

+ could only stay, based on the work permit (Approved for this position only) - loose job, head home.

Thankfully, we achieved Permanent Resident status, before the 3 years ran out.

Told my boss he was a stupid, old [bleep] & bought our own business !

There are lots of very simple solutions to this immigration invasion, but there’s less than a handful of politicians in Washington willing to do what it takes. Until that changes, they will continue to pour across and be given the red carpet treatment.

Foreign labor is in demand. I suggest a guest worker program that does NOT lead to citizenship.
They don't pay into or draw from social security. They do pay all income taxes, state and federal.
When they're done working, they go home.
Any children born to guest workers are NOT citizens of the US.
They can get a guest drivers license if they get the proper training.
If they commit any crime, they serve a sentence and then they're gone for good, never able to return. That includes driving without a license or insurance.
They must be self supporting, not tax supported. Anyone who hires them is required to pay a living wage and medical insurance. They are not eligible for any welfare or free medical. They can be self employed but they are still not eligible for any free medical or welfare.

Anyone who wants to apply for this program can only do so from OUTSIDE the US. Those already here illegally must go home before they can apply.
If they want to become citizens, they can go the legal immigration route.
They are not counted in the regular census for determining representation or electoral votes.
