Looking for a proven .257 Roberts load for whitetail using 100 - 117 gr. bullets and IMR 4350 powder. Suggestions welcomed, I'm shooting an FN Mauser with 24" barrel.

A 100 grain Ballistic Tip over 43.5 grains of IMR 4350 gave a five-shot group of 1.08” at 2928 fps in the 24” Shilen barrel of my Jim Kobe custom. That’s fast enough for me, and where I hunt with this rifle, temperature extremes are not an issue.

Barnes 100 TTSX, Hybrid 100V handload. Yep, it kills as good as it shoots. H 100V is the speed champ in the Roberts. The COAL on this load is longer than SAAMI; my gun is a LA M-700 with Brux barrel. So with long action it accepts longer loads and the gun is so chambered. DF

i am really liking these 75 gr. Hammer Hunters bullets in these older 257 Robert rifles because of the slower twist barrels and using Reloader 17 , i am getting great consistent accuracy have not checked velocities yet but will soon. my 11 yr. old grandson shot a doe, bullet did a good job ,the ladies in the family and the grandson because of the low recoil and accuracy are very happy with this load and bullet. in another fall hunting season will know much more then.

Haven’t tried the Hammers in my Roberts.
I like them, may need to try them.

I have a custom small ring Mexican Mauser that adores a 100 grain partition, 42.0 grains of IMR-4350 and a WLR primer. Nickel sized groups and it drops deer instantly.

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

We've had good luck with IMR 3031 in 3 different 257 Roberts chambered rifles.

My load in a BLR with IMR 4350 & 100 gr bullets is a good bit hotter than what's posted here but still under book max. It works well enough but maybe I'll try some of the milder loads posted.

The 115 NBT over H-4350 is another good one.
