The Wife and I are hitting 25 years this September and she wants to go to Alaska. She wants to see the glaciers and the Northern Lights. Me? I just gotta make her happy.
Where should we go?
What should we see?

Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!
Ecc 10:2 The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but that of a fool to the 24HCF.

With some exceptions, glaciers are largely a cruise attraction, at least if you want to see them somewhat close (or so I have been told...I have never done the cruise thing). Adding in the aurora on the same trip could be a tall order, as that is an unpredictable opportunity when you’re planning months out.
Maybe drive from Anchorage to Valdez (you’ll see 2 glaciers ‘up close’ and several that are miles away) and then do the Fairbanks loop to hopefully catch the aurora? You’ll drive past several more glaciers along the Richardson between Glenallen and Delta.
You’ll see the leaves turning in Sep, which is nice but many seasonal amenities will be closed, and others will be closing soon.
Your best bet would be to rent a car from Anchorage drive to McCarthy before they shut down for the winter. They have some great glacier tours. Drive north and see if you can win the lottery to see the park in fall colors. Drive further north and stay at wiseman in one of their cabins.
You can drive to Prudhoe Bay or near there. You can stay at a hotel in coldfoot. The Dalton hiway would likely be a memorable trip. You can do some fishing. Charter boats out of Valdez, or somewhere on the Kenai. September is hunting season. Maybe you can find a cancelation out of Bethel and fly into unit 18. Best moose hunting in Alaska.
