Well I stopped in at a LGS and a like new Remington 700 SPS with a BDL floor plate followed me home. It has a “G” prefix in the SN. I have never owned a 270W. I normally handload and will eventually but I think I will go with factory ammo at first.
I will be putting a scope on it and most likely going to stray from my Zeiss, Swaro, Meopta preference. It will be used for hunting deer and possibly elk. I will stick with SFP. Any suggestions?

Since you don’t reload, I’d start off with Hornady’s Whitetail load with the 130 gr spire point soft point. It’s priced reasonable - as factory goes, accurate in my rifle and a first class killer of medium game.

Your question seems to be about scopes for your 270. I have a 270 I'm evaluating scopes at the moment. I'm going with a Trijicon Credo HX 2.5-15×42. It is not a flyweight. I'd guess your M700 weighs somewhere in the high 7lbs range. Adding a 30mm, 22oz scope may put it at 9lbs. If that isn't an issue, I'd go Credo HX. If weight is an issue, I'd go the 3-9×40 1" tube Trij Credo. You didn't ask about loads, but I'd opine if you have a desire to include elk in the menu, I'd develop a load using a 150 Nosler Accubond. I also think they are available, I believe Nosler and Underwood have ammo with that bullet. 2900 or a smidge more is about max from a 24" barrel with a 150. Re 26 takes it to 3000 or a tad more. At 2900 bullets bounce off. After they exit the other side

58.5 to 59.5 grains of h4831 and a 130. It'll take you less than 30 minutes to find out if you got a shooter or a donor action. Of course, I've heard of folks loading 60 and loving that charge too. 58.5 or 59 has always worked for me.

A Burris Droptine 3-9 and Federal blue box will get you started.

I agree with H4831 and 130s for a deer load but would add that some shoot best with a load north of 60g. My go to deer projectile is a Hornady Interlock as they simply shoot great and are devastating on deer near and far. They also do quite well on larger game as well. For glass, I’ve migrated away from Swarovski Z3 and would set up a Tract Toric in 2x10 or 3x15. They hold zero and track predictably.

Thanks for the replies. I am interested in it all…scopes, reloads and factory ammo. I guess I need to find some 4831 too.

I guess I need to find some 4831 too. H4350 works well with the 270 too, as well as a lot of other powders.

H4831 has always been a 270 go to powder. I use 57.5 grains of it with a 150 speer hot cor. It shoots the best in my rifle. Also a remington 700. Lots of good factory loads out there. I know some fellas that use winchester power points 150 grain. Good luck with your new 270!

I agree with the others. If factory ammo is your thing, Federal 130’s and Hornady 130’s good to get rolling. If you’re loading H4831 and a 130-140-150 of your choice are really a match made in heaven. My brother got a P64 and wanted to use it for deer. We got some H4831 and 130 ABs and kept creeping up on 3000 which is still pretty mild. It still probably has room to grow but for the hunting he does that load will do everything. Bills note about 150 Accubonds at 2900 would be my pick myself if it were mine, but the point is H4831 and a slew of others are usually pretty easy.

H4831SC if you can find it, I like it better than H4831. It just fills the case and throws better out of my dispenser. RL26 is supposed to be the powder, I just have a lot of 4831 so I've never tried it.
I've killed a lot of stuff with a VX2/3 or FFII scope if you want something lighter. My NF 3-10X42 SHV has been getting a lot of use as well. I'm sure you have an idea of what you like.

The 270 is probably the finest North American hunting cartridge developed. Everyone should have one. Powders? Anything from 4064 to 4831 will work. Bullets? Yes shoot a .277 bullet. They’re made for hunting.

For a one load do everything setup I'd go with a 130gr TTSX or 150 Nosler partition. H4350 or H4831SC would be my first two choices for powder, bet one combo or the other will put a smile on your face and a lot of meat in the freezer.

55gr of IMR 4350 with a good 130 seems to always deliver tight groups and dead critters. Reloder 22 is another favorite.
For elk I’d run a stout 150gr bullet. The long for caliber bullet will penetrate like a champ.
