Anyone know where to buy just a 30mm ring lapping rod. Not looking for a kit with alignment rods and other things I won’t use.

Manson makes a scope ring alignment reamer. It's a bit pricey. If you have access to a lathe, you could make one.

30mm DOM tube is available but not too cheap. https://www.amazon.com/Steel-Stainless-steel-Tubing-OD30mmID16mm/dp/B09VFK49H8?th=1That one is only 4" long but you could try contacting them and see if they'll sell you a specific length. Online Metals is another source or try a local hydraulic repair shop for a cutoff. For lapping, I'm not sure if a hard surface rod is the best, but it should work. You typically want the grit to embed in the lapping rod, not the work. As mentioned, making one from a larger standard tube is another way, if you can find a shop locally. Edit....ran across this one in the classified section too https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...04529/gonew/1/wheeler-lapping-kit#UNREAD

Had a buddy with a lathe make my lapping bars. Pretty basic to make. Th3n drill and tap a hole in the middle 90 degrees to the bar for a threaded handle. The handle can be as simple as a bolt and a short piece of pipe. I only lap the bottom rings to get 80% or more contact so I don't need fancy expensive store bough stuff.

30 MM is just a bit over 1 5/16 inches. Get a piece of 1 1/4" hardwood dowel rod and wrap a couple of layers of ultra-fine sandpaper around it.
