The Mrs. just wiped down Henry the Pup with some foaming cleaner/deodorizer. I told him he smells like a French horehound. I had to explain.

Just popped one in. Claey's Old Fashioned Hard Candies.
Horehound tea was well known for its soothing qualities. Stomach, cough, and general well-being.

Right with you Rocky Rabb, I grab a bag every time we make it to Cracker Barrel. It’s the only place I know that carries the Claeys line. There used to be a state wide drug store company called Fred’s that carried them locally but they went kaput just before Covid. Covid caused scarring of my lungs and I always have a tickle in my throat. The Horehound lozenges or Ricola cough drops help. I like any thing in the Claeys lineup: Sour Apple, Lemon, Watermelon, Licorice, etc. That and hot tea with lemon helps.

As a kid, I remembered reading about that candy in books, Huck Finn, Red Fern, etc. I ran across some in an old time candy store in Carson City one time and bought some. That was the nastiest excuse for candy I’ve ever had. The whole bag went into the trash can.

Loved the candies as a kid. The Ricola original and fisherman’s friend are very similar from what I remember the horehound tasting like.
