Was at the LGS and saw a very nice Ruger American 22lr. It was the stainless/walnut version, and looked very nice. It looked like it had a 22” barrel and also had iron sights.

If anyone here has one, what are your thoughts? Thanks!

I have one in 17 hmr and really like it. Think the stainless over wood with iron sites is real classy. It carries good and shoots good as well. Definitely keepers in my book

Thanks Steelruger. I thought it looked pretty good. I even had it in hand and inspected it a little bit. I know guys probably think I'm too nit picky about accuracy. Afterall, these rifles are meant for shooting vermin and packing around. Kind of like the CZ I just bought. I do get a little disappointed when these fine looking rifles don't shoot as good as less expensive Savages, which is generally what I compare other rifles to, in the accuracy department.

I've also had a Ruger American rimfire chambered for 22WMR (not 17 or 22lr), and it shot damn well. It was the 22" sighted model, but blued and in a synthetic stock. However, the walnut stock versions have always caught my eye. As per usual, for me anyway, if they shoot awesome, that is just the icing on the cake.

I'm surprised no one else has eyeballed this model in the LGS..

I haven’t shot that particular model but have shot a few RARs. All the 22s shot great for the price. That stainless/wood model definitely has sex appeal.

Never saw one in the flesh, but I definitely approve of the separate trigger guard, and have always liked SS/walnut rifles since I saw a SS Featherweight. I put together a SS 455 with a walnut stock a few years back and it was quite handsome, but sold it to finance something else like a big dummy.

What fresh Hell is this?

Yeah, I think you and I both put together similar Ruger Hawkeye stainless rifles in walnut stocks, as well. That seemed like a winning combination.
