MSR pocket rocket is nice. Very light, but it works best with a wind guard of some sort.

What temps will you use it in, what duration, will you be melting snow for water?
Brand names seem to be moot in stoves; in that all the mainstream names make decent stoves. The issue is liquid or canister design. Go from there.

I use a whiteman fire and a Ti pot. Otherwise a Jetboil (after tremendous hesitation) provided the temps are up.

I just got a Stratus Trailstove in the mail today. Have not used it but looking forward to it. This one looks pretty cool. http://site283.webhost4life.com/afmservices/trailgear/compactstove/falk-compact-stove.htmLighter by a good bit than the Stratus.

Guys I'm talking wood stove for heat. I think you can get stoves as lite as 2-1/2 pounds.

I think the list of heating stoves is going to get real short, real fast. Is this for use inside a tent, or some sort of warm-up trailside?

Wow, that's cool. I wish I had a fab shop that I could play around in like that.

this version of coleman fuel can stove probably weights in around 3 lbs. I'm working up another version as I want the whole setup to come in around 2.5 lbs. stove pipe is two 24" section 3" diameter, dampner fabricated from 26 guage steel. the whole thing can be built with drill, hack saw, tin snips, rivet gun (regular and threaded rivets). i'll post more when i get a final version. the basis idea came from tx trapper and this post https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...&topic=0&Search=true#Post1609676.

first post here on this mb.... SHAG here is another idea for a wood burner i made at home. it weighs 3lbs,though it dosent break down for packing you can utilise the interiour space of the stove for storage.simply put your stuff in a stuff bag to keep it clean and then put it inside the stove, lash the two handles on the sides to your pack and your ready to go. stove pipe? well you can use two of the 3" sections you can buy at lowes, homedepot,.ect or you can order one of those lightweight rollup stainless pipes from tig or kifaru. i havent tried the roll up pipes yet but im sure aperson could make it work with a little help ov a rivot gun and stainless rivets in side the stove collar to give the pipe a platform to rest on inside the collar. i also have one of those high dollar wood stoves that pack up but for somebody on a budget or just dosent want to spend that kind of money for a stove i feel its a good deal for roughly $20.00 and change. $20.00 stainless steel cook pot, comes in a box of three.heck you could make three if ya wanted to. i also took some high temp stove paint and painted the stove and the collar black,it hasent worn off yet.
