Hello all
picked up a decent older model 1899 in .303. Got the gun home and noticed the stock was a little loose. Thought it just needed to be tightened some .The stock slid off and noticed and there was no stock bolt/screw. Ordered a original replacement screw and washer from Numrich gunparts co.,,and just cant get the screw to line up with the hole where it attaches to the receiver.
The screw fits the threads and the stock hole but cant get it to line up. Any trick to this?? It just does not drop in the hole ? Thanks guys

Does the bolt come out of the hole far enough to hit the threads? There are two ( at least ) length of bolts.

Is the washer preventing the stock bolt from lining up?

Thanks, I, will check the length and try without washer, possibly not right length, I will try inserting it from the other end to see if it comes thru inside. I was not aware of different length sizes, they only had this one listed. Will post back after I see. Are the model 1899 stock bolts different
length than the 99 series rifle ?

Another thing to check, is it an original stock or a replacement? If it hasn't been cut for a recoil pad an original will have numbers and maybe a symbol or two in the wood under the butt plate.

Yes it is original stock, has a matching serial number under butt plate.

1899s under SN 90K use a longer stock bolt. What's your SN?

OK guys, checked the length and it looks like to be at least 1 inch to short. That answers that question, now I just have to find the correct longer one for the 1899 model I have.Any ideas on where to get one would be helpful. Oh and the serial number is 86xxx range. Thanks for the info, just have to track one down somewhere.
