While attending to the dog kennels at daylight this morning, I heard in the distant a beautiful sound of gobbling toms. After getting my chores taken care of, I took the time to sit and listen. They hit the ground in a grand way as they put on an acoustic show for the next hour. It's about a month early here for that kind of excitement, hopefully they're practicing for April !

Yep. Here in southeast Virginia, spring starts in the later half of February. We still have cold days. But the dafodils are blooming and just about every plant is getting buds. And the song birds are pairing up and claiming boxes and singing their heads off. Turkeys here aren't any different. If the song birds are doing it, the turkeys are, too.

Music to my ears!

Headed north in a couple days. Going to walk my 40 looking for any antler sheds and hoping to be serinated by some gobbling.

Yep, the Cardinals starting singing hard about a week ago here. Daffodils are popping out all around. Wild fruit trees and tulip trees are blooming.
Hopefully the 12ga will get to roar in 6 weeks.

Up at my place in NE WI. Early this morning temps were in the mid 30Ā°'s with a bright sunny sunrise. Took my coffee outside to listen, and was rewarded with multiple gobbles not too terribly far away. Driving up to a friend's place in Sturgeon Bay, couple fields had numbers of birds in them and the tom's were strutting around. My tag isn't until the second week of May...
